Willowdale Teens Have a New Favourite Hangout Spot

The newly renovated Teen Zone at North York Central Library officially reopened! I had the opportunity to cut the ribbon with the Mayor alongside a large group of energized teens. They were very excited and we should be excited that we have this amazing space that provides free healthy snacks, video games and free craft activities. Teens call this their safe third space. How great it is that after school there are teens in Willowdale that rush to our library!

Reopened just in time for March Break after a 12-month renovation, it is now the largest teen space and teen book collection in the city. The redesigned space includes a gaming room, Computer Learning Centre, study areas, and flexible programming space. Weekdays from 3:30 to 7 p.m., it becomes a Teen Zone offering drop-in support, workshops, and hands-on activities led by caring staff.

Serving teens from across Toronto, Teen Zones across our city connect young people to everything the library has to offer, from digital innovation to arts and maker spaces. It is a vibrant community asset, and we are grateful to library staff for making it thrive.
