Ukrainians in North York Social (UINY)

On February 21, Ukrainians in North York (UINY) will hold a special gathering to mark the 4th anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a moment that carries deep sorrow, strength, and resilience for so many in our community. Since the very beginning of the war, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside UINY founder Helen Shumilova, including co-hosting welcome tea gatherings for Ukrainians newly arrived in our city. From those first moments of uncertainty, Helen’s leadership has created something extraordinary: a place of connection, comfort, and belonging for Ukrainian families as they find their footing in a new home.

Over the years, UINY has grown into a true community, one rooted in care, compassion, and solidarity. This gathering continues that spirit, offering space to reflect, to remember, and to stand together. Those who wish may make a voluntary donation in support of Ukraine. Any amount is welcome, and participation is entirely optional. Attendees who donate and upload confirmation during registration will be entered for a chance to receive a small gift.

Above all, this evening is about being together, listening, supporting one another, and reminding each other that no one stands alone.

When: Saturday, Feb. 21, 4-6 pm

Where: Finch & Yonge Area (Exact address will be provided in the reminder/confirmation email)
