Major Transportation Projects Update

401 Interchange

The City and Ministry of Transportation (MTO) are advancing the Environmental Assessment (EA) work with preparing procurement materials and targeting release of an Request For Proposal (RFP) in Spring 2026. Once a Consultant team is retained, the EA is expected to take about two years and will identify a preferred interchange design after evaluating options


Transform Yonge

The Request for Proposal (RFP) for detailed design is currently on hold while staff assess the impacts of Bill 212 and Bill 60. The city is also evaluating feasibility options to maintain public realm and cycling improvements while keeping vehicle lanes, and is organizing an internal team to advance this work.


Doris Extension

Work continues on the Doris Avenue Extension, from Sheppard Avenue East south to Tradewind Avenue. The project is progressing through preliminary design, with the draft 30% design now received and currently under review, including solutions for interim and ultimate alignments. A public meeting is anticipated in Q2 2026, with detailed design expected to continue through 2026-2027. Utilities relocations and construction could begin as early as 2027.


Beecroft Extension

The extension of Beecroft Road, from Finch Avenue West north to Drewry Avenue is moving through the preliminary design phase, with the 30% design under review and ongoing coordination with utility companies along the corridor. Property acquisition is progressing and anticipated to be substantially completed by Q2 2026. The city is targeting the release of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for detailed design in Q3 2026, and utility relocations and construction could begin as early as 2027-2028.
