A few residents have contacted my office regarding hateful posters seen around our neighbourhood. If you come across hateful graffiti or posters in Toronto, it’s important not to ignore it, and just as important not to take it down yourself.
If no crime is in progress but you suspect the graffiti or posters are hate‑motivated, contact the non‑emergency police line at 416‑808‑2222, or use the official Hate‑Motivated Graffiti online form on the Toronto Police website.
Please note: Do not remove or disturb the poster or graffiti. The police will want to document it first, usually by taking photos and collecting any materials that might serve as evidence. Once they’ve done that, the property owner (or the appropriate city division) is responsible for removing it, ideally within 24 hours.
Reporting hate-motivated graffiti helps the police track patterns, investigate incidents seriously, and sends a clear message that hate has no place in our communities. Click Here for more information and to find the reporting form.
