Demolition of Hudson’s Bay at Centerpoint Mall

Construction is continuing on the Yonge North Subway Extension, and residents may notice increased activity at Centerpoint Mall over the coming months.

Last month, crews mobilized at the mall to begin demolition of the former Hudson's Bay building. Work is currently focused on interior demolition and will later move to the exterior of the building as part of preparations for the future subway extension.

Here's what to expect:

  • Construction is expected to continue through December 2026.

  • Work will take place weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Access to Centerpoint Mall from Yonge Street will be maintained whenever possible, although temporary closures may be required from time to time.

  • Residents and businesses may experience increased noise, vibration, dust, and construction vehicle activity.

  • Sidewalks will remain open throughout construction.

  • No impacts to traffic or TTC service are currently anticipated.

The Yonge North Subway Extension is a major investment in our community's future, improving transit connections and supporting growth across North York and York Region. Thank you for your patience as this important work moves forward.
