As Toronto prepares to host FIFA World Cup 2026, the City is investing in community-focused initiatives to ensure neighbourhood's across Toronto can take part in the excitement. A new report on June 11th outlines upcoming grants, toolkits, and events designed to support local groups, businesses, and residents.
Community Celebration Support Fund – "The World in a City"
A $1 million fund to support up to 50 neighbourhood-led events in summer 2026 (e.g., BIAs, cultural groups, nonprofits). The grant will cover up to 50% of eligible event costs such as planning, safety, and marketing. More info at Community Celebration Support Fund – City of Toronto
“Here to Cheer” Program
Local, non-commercial initiatives — like youth soccer leagues, cultural celebrations, or community arts — can apply for a special “Here to Cheer” designation to be included in official City celebrations. Details coming summer 2025 at toronto.ca

Launching summer 2025, this practical toolkit will help communities host FIFA-compliant events, including branding, public viewing licenses, and promotional support.
