About the event
★★★This room is on the second floor of the North York Central Library.
The purpose of this program is to narrate Farsi folktales for children with a background of Farsi/ Dari mother tongue! The minimum effectiveness of narrating folktales for children is:
1) Tale as a therapeutic method in individual and family psychotherapy
2) Tale as a method of education and development of children's abilities
3) Tale as a way of transmitting cultural and linguistic heritage
4) Tale as a successful intergenerational communication method and creating a healthy relationship between the narrator/parent(s) and the child/children
ARTIST:
Dina and Farhad are both teachers and children's book facilitators who have years of experience in working with children. They have opened the first and only Persian children's bookstore in Canada because of their interest and affection for kids. They wish every child in the word to be able to benefit from their mother tongue and home culture.
Afsaneh Efekhar Zadeh holds a Ph.D. in General Linguistics. She has published "A Collection of Baluchi Folktales," featuring an introduction by Professor Ulrich Marzolph, a well-known German folklorist. This collection is classified based on Aarne-Thompson's system of classification of folktales and was printed by Cheshmeh Publishers in 2009. Additionally, she has coordinated weekly storytelling sessions for children, women, and seniors at the Iranian Women's Organization of Ontario (IWOO) in Toronto, Canada, from 2018 to 2020.
