About the event

★★★This room is on the second floor of the North York Central Library

This workshop will follow the following steps:  

-        Introduction: 10-minute introduction to printmaking materials and techniques, with kids receiving handouts. 

-        Demonstration: 10-minute demonstration of the technique and showcasing sample prints. 

-        Practice Session: 20-minute practice session for kids to create their masterpieces. 

Workshop Process: 

  1. Apply paint onto plexiglass using a brush. 
  2. Scratch a pattern onto the paint with the back of the brush. 
  3. Press the paper onto the plexiglass to transfer the design. 
  4. Write their name on the artwork and let it dry. Kids can pick up their finished artwork later.

ARTIST:

Maryam Pazooki is a multi-disciplinary artist, educator, and researcher. Maryam's work reflects a versatile style shaped by her diverse background and displayed in galleries and universities worldwide. With a Master's in Visual Arts from Tsukuba University, Japan, a Bachelor of Education, and two years of research focusing on the active role of negative space. She has developed and taught courses in drawing, painting, printmaking, and batik. 

Maria Mohsenpour will be assisting Maryam for these workshops. Maria is a dynamic and passionate art and crafts instructor, dedicated to nurturing creativity and expression among children in educational environments. Her approach is hands-on, focusing on engaging students with interactive and stimulating art projects that foster imagination, critical thinking, and a deep appreciation for artistic expression. Through her work, Maria aims to create an enriching and enjoyable learning atmosphere where children can explore their artistic potential and develop a lifelong love for art and crafts.
