Traffic Safety on Maxome Avenue: Update on Key Initiatives

Improving traffic safety on Maxome Avenue has been a top priority for my office. Over the past two years, we've heard from many residents raising concerns about traffic flow and road safety. Here’s a brief update on three related initiatives:

1. All-Way Stop at Maxome & Wedgewood/Ruth. In fall 2023, I visited the intersection following resident concerns about safety. I brought a motion to North York Community Council to install an all-way stop to improve visibility and clarify right-of-way. The motion was approved, and the stop signs are now in place.

2. Turn Prohibition at Maxome & Bishop. Several residents have expressed frustration with the existing turn restrictions at Maxome and Bishop, which often force drivers into U-turns or longer detours.
