Lily's Contributions to Willowdale

NeighbourLink North York, Executive Director

Providing community support & resources to under-resourced areas of Willowdale while fostering connectivity and volunteerism across the community.

Lily joined as a volunteer Executive Director and was able to turn the budget around from $38K to almost $400K in 1.5 years expanding the scope to include initiatives such as:

  • Arts & Basketball programs for under-resourced youth

  • Christmas Hampers and Single Moms Mother’s Day Baskets for 150+ recipients

  • Community building initiatives like the Willowdale Christmas Market, Willowdale Kindness Movement, Willowdale Winterfest, Willowdale Yard Sale Day and Let’s Move Willowdale (Move-a-thon)

​A movement to care for our community in response to the Yonge Street Tragedy. In partnership with a group of community leaders Lily helped to organize:

  • The Reclaim Yonge Street walk that shut down our main street to take back our community.

  • Co-organized community dinners for one year commemoration for 1000 people.

  • Memorial site decommissioning.

415 Food Hub, Co-Founder

Willowdale's newest food bank serving 120+ households each month with the following innovative core values:

  • Building community while serving food. Partner agencies are invited to share resources and clients have worked with staff to organize community building events.

  • Fresh and healthy food. 80% of the food distributed is fresh food including dairy, protein, vegetables and fruit.

  • Dignity of choice to clients who are invited to shop the pantry room.

  • Relational support. All clients receive phone calls and visits to receive feedback and connect to other resources.

North York Moms, Founder

Community of almost 11K Moms sharing resources, advice and encouragement. Lily has

  • supported moms leaving abusive relationships,

  • connect women to shelter space in the middle of the night,

  • organized multilingual circle times

  • provided a platform for moms starting new businesses and

  • spearheaded the sponsorship of a refugee family.
